Is GEO (Generative Engine Optimization) worth it?

For most brands, yes — GEO is worth it because a fast-growing share of buyer research now ends inside an AI answer with no click, and the brand the model cites earns the consideration. GEO largely reuses your SEO foundation, so the marginal cost is low and the upside — being the recommended source in ChatGPT, Perplexity, and AI Overviews — compounds.

Search behavior is splitting: many queries now resolve in an AI-generated answer, so ranking a blue link without being cited in the answer means you're invisible to that traffic. GEO makes your content the source the model quotes, which captures demand that classic SEO alone increasingly misses.

The economics are favorable because GEO and SEO share a foundation — topical depth, clean technical structure, schema, and third-party authority serve both. You're rarely paying twice; you're extending work you should already be doing. The honest caveat: like SEO, GEO compounds over months, not days, and it won't overcome a thin or untrustworthy site overnight.

Gigde runs SEO and GEO as one combined service (/services/seo-geo) so the same investment wins Google rankings and AI citations. Request a free growth plan at contact@gigde.com to see where your brand stands in AI answers today.
